My bonsai-to-be-wisteria seed has been ready to plant for dayyyyyys! I have been oh-so-patiently waiting to be instructed/led through the process. I'm pretty sure i can do this without help, I said, but....i suppose it makes sense that he doesn't trust me with it. I mean, i do kill ferns, and i hear those are supposed to pretty much run on auto pilot. so there's that.
He was too tired after work to plant the seed last night, so I just did it this afternoon. I winged it. This means tomorrow i get to take my bonsai-to-be-wisteria to work! I cleared out a space for it on friday. But hey, i need to name this baby. y'all want to help me come up with one? i think i tried this already but didn't come up with an answer. send me your ideas! post them in the comments for the most fun!
here are the names i came up with two weeks ago, with some help from axel (the weird ones at least, those are his fault):
- Petalia (Latin for petal)
- Waity (on account of the super long wait, obvi)
- Janessa (named after my husband, since he's the one who made it have a wait, lol)
- Luna Bloom (dreamy, since it blooms rarely)
- Something else (and if you pick this option, email me at eliza@mamas-gnome-shop.net to let me know what that something else is)
The two that are highlighted are my favs. how about y'all vote between those two. i'll ask social media too. they'll weigh in over on socials. tbd...stay tuned.
Papi gnome's tip of the week: when you initially plant the seed, you'll want to soak the pot with water to get it started with its new home for growth. From there, you'll wait until the soil is dry before watering again, with a much smaller amount of water.
My tip of the week: wisteria lovers beware: frost season isn't fully over yet! central ohio usually sees the last frost around april 15th. for safe measures you'll want to:
- bring any potted wisteria indoors or cover with sheets
- cover in-ground wisteria with frost blankets or tarps
- avoid pruning until all frost risk has passed
of course, none of this applies to my petalia/luna bloom. she's just a seed in a pot. inside, of course. but y'all may benefit from these tips!
thanks, y'all, for tuning in. i appreciate your stopping by, per usual! i hope you have an amazing rest of your day! until next time...
mama gnome, a.k.a. Eliza
